Frequently asked questions

Does splitting re-encode my video?

No. Clips are cut with stream copy, so the video and audio are not re-encoded: splitting is fast and every part keeps 100% of the original quality. Cuts snap to the nearest keyframe, so a cut point may shift by a fraction of a second.

Can I split a long video into 60-second clips for Shorts and TikTok?

Yes — choose the “60-second Shorts preset” and the tool cuts your video into 60-second pieces (the last one may be shorter). Each clip downloads as its own MP4, ready to upload.

How many parts can I make, and how do I download them all?

Up to 200 parts per video. Every part gets its own download button, and “Download all as ZIP” packs them into one .zip file — handy when a long recording becomes a week of Shorts.

Does my video leave my device?

No. Everything happens in your browser: the splitting, the previews and the ZIP file. The only download is the video engine itself (ffmpeg.wasm, an open-source build loaded unmodified from a CDN) the first time you split a file. Your footage is never uploaded anywhere.
