Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between VTT and SRT?

They carry the same content — timed subtitle text — in a different wrapper. VTT (WebVTT) is the standard for HTML5 web video players; SRT is the universal format accepted by YouTube, video editors, and course platforms. Converting only changes the wrapper, never the words or timings.

Will my subtitle timings change during conversion?

No. Every timestamp is preserved exactly — the converter swaps the WEBVTT header and dot separators for the SRT numbering and comma separators. Cue order and millisecond precision stay identical.

What happens to cue identifiers, NOTE blocks, and styling?

They are dropped. Cue identifiers and NOTE/STYLE blocks are optional VTT extras that SRT does not support. Your spoken text and timings pass through untouched, and the output is a clean, valid .srt.

My file is already .srt — what happens if I convert it?

The tool detects SRT-style timings and still converts it (harmless — you get a clean, renumbered .srt back), and it tells you the input already looked like SRT so there are no surprises.

Is there a file size limit?

No. Conversion is instant text processing that runs entirely in your browser, so even a full movie-length subtitle file converts in a fraction of a second.

Does my subtitle file leave my device?

No. The conversion happens 100% in your browser — nothing is uploaded to any server, and nothing is stored.
