What is the difference between cropping and trimming?
Cropping changes the frame: it cuts pixels off the sides, top or bottom to change the shape (for example landscape to square). Trimming changes the length: it cuts time off the start or end. This tool crops the frame; try our Video Trimmer to shorten a clip.
Will cropping reduce my video quality?
Slightly. Cropping changes the picture size, so the video is re-encoded (H.264, high quality). The original audio is copied untouched. If you only want a different shape with no quality change, there is no way around a re-encode — every cropper works this way.
Does my video leave my device?
Never. Cropping runs entirely on your device using a WebAssembly build of FFmpeg, loaded unmodified from a CDN. Your file is never uploaded to any server.
